Launch Outlook. Click the Tools
menu and choose Rules Wizard...
A Box will open titled, "Rules Wizard".
Click New. A new box
will open. Under "Which type of rule do you want to create?",
choose Check messages when they arrive.
Click Next.
The window will
display "Which condition(s) do you want to check?" with options
listed below. Check the box next to "with specific words in the
subject". You may have to scroll down the list to find
this option.
Under "Rule description (click on an underlined value to edit it):",
click specific words.
A new box will open titled "Search Text". Type *SPAM* in
the space next to "Add new:", then click the Add button (using
no spaces, type one asterik, the word SPAM in caps, and one
asterik.)
*SPAM* should appear in the space under "Search list".
Click OK.
This takes you back to the "Rules Wizard" window. Click the Next button.
Under "What do you want to do with the message?" place a check mark
next to "move it to the specified folder".
This will appear below under "Rule Description (click on an underlined
value to edit it):" Click specified.
The Rules Wizard will ask you to "Choose a folder:". Click
"Inbox", then click the New
button.
Type a name for your SPAM folder under "Name:", such as SPAM.
Click the OK button at the
bottom.
Outlook will ask you if you would like to add a shortcut. Click No.
Your new SPAM folder will appear under Inbox. Click the OK button to your right.
The Rules Wizard window should now show your new folder under "Rule
description..." Click the Next button
at the bottom.
The Rules Wizard now prompts you to set up exceptions. We will
not be setting up this feature, so just click the Next button at the bottom.
The Rules Wizard now asks you to specify a name for the rule.
*SPAM* should already be filled in under "Please specify a name for
this rule. Click the Finish
button at the bottom.
Rules Wizard now shows a window specifiying the order that your rules
will be applied. Just click OK
at the bottom.
