Configuring Dial-Up Networking and E-mail

Following is a list of instructions and screens that you will see or are similar to what you will see. The process is essentially the same for Windows 9x and 2000 Use each corresponding instruction and screen to complete the process.

Click the START button and select Programs / Accessories / Communications / Internet Connection Wizard.

Step 1 of 11 - Welcome to the Internet Connection Wizard. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually...", then click on "NEXT >"

Step 2 of 11 - Set up your Internet Connection. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem." Then click on "NEXT >"

Step 3 of 11 - Internet Account Connection Information. Type in your access number. It should be 425-2015 for Nashville, then click on "NEXT >"

Step 4 of 11 - Internet Account Logon Information. Type in your assigned username and password,(This is case sensitive) then click on "NEXT >"

Step 5 of 11 - Configuring Your Computer. Name the Internet connection, type in MindState, then click on "NEXT >"

Step 6 of 11 - Set Up Your Internet Mail Account. Click on "Yes" then click on "NEXT >"

Step 7 of 11 - Your Name. Type in your name as you want it to appear on outgoing messages, then click on "NEXT >"

Step 8 of 11 - Internet E-Mail Address. Type "myname@mindstate.com (This is case sensitive) then click on "NEXT >"

Step 9 of 11 - E-Mail Server Names. Select "POP3" for server type. In lower case letters, for "Incoming Mail" type "mail.mindstate.com" for "Outgoing Mail" type "SMTP.mindstate.com" then click on "NEXT >"

Step 10 of 11 - Internet Mail Logon. Type your assigned username and password, then click on "NEXT>"

Step 11 of 11 - Completeting the Internet Connection Wizard. Click "Finish"
